1300 vs. 11!!

Unfortunately, I think we all have been affected by cancer in some form or fashion.  Whether being personally diagnosed with cancer or having a family member, friend, or a loved one win or lose the battle to this beast of a disease. 

A few years back I started down the journey to eat better and came across a jump start diet called Whole 30.  At the time my friend, now fiancé, shared this diet with my triathlon club so thought, why not give it a try.     

In short, the diet, over a 30 day period has one cut out sugar, as well as harmful preservatives found in the food ingredients known to cause disease.   Needless to say, this was a HUGE eye opener for me.  

Not only did I not know how much sugar was in the everyday foods I was eating, but the number of harmful ingredients was overwhelming!   Today I am not perfect with my diet, but since then I limit the number of harmful ingredients I put in my body.

I have to believe that a majority of the illnesses humans suffer from today is tied to what we are putting into and exposing our bodies to.   I am fortunate in the fact that my life-long partner and the love of my life has the knowledge and passion for limiting the consumption of harmful preservatives and ingredients. 

Casey’s passion comes from being personally affected by cancer with her mom, dad, and aunt being diagnosed with the disease.   Both of her parents / my future mother-in-law & father-in-law are now cancer free.  Unfortunately, Casey’s Aunt lost her battle to brain cancer.  

Casey is a Licensed Esthetician (skin care expert) and studying to become a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner.   Needless to say, I am exposed to the best/healthiest types of foods and skin care products.     

So what’s the 1300 vs. 11 stat about?    That is the number of harmful ingredients the European Union (1300) bans from personal care products vs. the US (11).  Some of these banned ingredients are known to be carcinogenic and hormone disruptors.  


So think about for a second.  Our skin is the largest organ of the human body and what we put on it is absorbed into our bloodstream! 

I am a believer that all types of changes for the better have to start with education.   I am writing this message in hopes that my friends, family, and loved ones become educated on this topic.
