Jaleen lives in West Chester, Ohio (northern Cincinnati) with her husband, Raghu, and two young children Gabriel and Anna. She is a USA Triathlon, Level 1 Certified Coachand is a veteran of the Unites States Army, where she served as an Non-Commissioned-Officer in the training department and was a Combat Life Saver of her unit in Fort McPherson, GA. Jaleen’s first endurance event was the Army 10-Miler, in Washington D.C., where she was encouraged by another female soldier to go long distance.
Jaleen holds a B.M. and a M.M. from Berklee College of Music and The New England Conservatory of Music, respectively, and was immediately drawn to the routine and challenges of endurance events that so closely paralleled the intensive musical training of a classical musician. In 2005, she began competing regularly in half-marathon and marathon events all throughout the United States, and joined the sport of triathlon in 2013. She is a 2016 IRONMAN LOUISVILLE FINISHER and has additionally finished multiple Ironman 70.3 distances, as well as multiple Sprint and Olympic distance triathlon events.
Jaleen has a passion for encouraging others to “tri”. She has a unique understanding of new-athlete challenges, herself only becoming an athlete in her late 20’s. Family-work-triathlon balance are at the core of her coaching philosophy and she truly enjoys helping newer athletes accomplish their fitness goals: whether that be a 5K or an Ironman.
Additionally, Jaleen has a passion for cooking and nutrition, and can be found regularly in the kitchen, working through the newest cookbooks and athlete nutritional research. She encourages and assists her athletes with meal planning, and has been successful at balancing training-specific nutritional needs with the family meal. As a detailed-oriented coach and a clear communicator, she is competent with coaching athletes both locally and remotely. She is excited to join Octane Athletics Training Systems Coaching team and looks forward to giving back to the sport!
